Temporarily Preserved

Transmission

In order for an artist to convey feelings...
they must permeate themselves in the very feelings
they wish to pass on. I hope this drawing carries
you some feelings that correspond with the ones
that created it.

Comet tonight....

Comet Lulin will be on display throughout the night on February 23-24, starting around mid-evening. Near peak brightness in a moonless sky, Comet Lulin should be fairly easy to spot through binoculars, even in mildly light-polluted skies.

The whole trick to seeing Comet Lulin is to know right where to look. That’s where the bright golden planet Saturn comes in handy. At mid to late evening, look for Comet Lulin to appear as a hazy speck of light to Saturn’s right. In a dark country sky, you might even see Comet Lulin with the unaided eye.

Comet Lulin probably won’t be high enough in the east for decent viewing until 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. Later at night is even better. At mid-evening, two respectively bright starlike points of light bedeck the eastern sky. The higher of these two lights is the star Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo the Lion. Saturn is to the lower left of Regulus, its golden color contrasting to that of sparkling blue-white Regulus. If you can’t distinguish their colors with the unaided eye, try looking at Saturn and Regulus with binoculars.

Comet Lulin and Saturn will remain within each other’s vicinity all night long, until morning dawn finally washes them from the sky. Look for Comet Lulin and Saturn to swing highest up for the night around 1 a.m. on February 24, at which time they’ll be due south. If you’re up before dawn on February 24, look for Comet Lulin and Saturn in your western sky.

Astronomers believe this is Comet Lulin’s first trip into the inner solar system. There’s always an element of unpredictability associated with comets, especially a pristine comet like Comet Lulin. Comet Lulin may match, exceed or fall short of expectations, but there is no way to know for sure unless you look!

If you miss Comet Lulin by Saturn on February 23-24, try again on the night of February 27-28, when Comet Lulin will cozy up with Regulus!

Is it March 15 yet ?

Although I can't stand the division, we are all entitled to our own perspective. Whether your elated or appalled at least we're in this together.

Terrorist Watch List

Daniel's been on the no fly list for years. IF this bill passes, there will be a way for him to TRY and get off the list..... if he were to be approved! As of right now.... there is no way to be removed from the list.

Washington, DC - The United States House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill on Tuesday that would allow individuals who are wrongly delayed or prevented from boarding a flight because their names are similar to ones on the terrorist watchlist to take action to prevent the problem from reoccurring. The Fair, Accurate, Secure and Timely (FAST) Redress Act of 2009 (H.R. 559) was introduced on January 15, 2009, by Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY). The terrorist watchlist now contains over 1.1 million names. “With so many different names on the list, it is not surprising that every single day, countless Americans are misidentified as terrorists,” said Clarke.

If the bill becomes law, individuals who are stopped because of the terrorist watchlist will be able to appeal to the Department of Homeland Security to prove that they are not the same individual as the one on the terrorist watchlist. Individuals who appeal successfully will be placed on a “Comprehensive Cleared List,” which should prevent them from experiencing future delays simply because there is a similar name on the terrorist watchlist.

“The watchlist is only as good as the information on it,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, in calling for the passage of the Act.

The bill could make the airport experience better for Iranian Americans and other minority groups that have faced extra scrutiny when trying to fly.

There certainly is room for improvement. In 2006, Iraqi blogger and activist Raed Jarrar was prevented from boarding a JetBlue airplane because he was wearing a T-Shirt that said “we will not be silent” in English and Arabic. Airport security told him it was like “going to a bank with a T-Shirt reading ‘I am a robber,’” and he was forced to cover the message by putting on a different shirt. Jarrar and the American Civil Liberties Union sued JetBlue, alleging Jarrar had been illegally discriminated against. JetBlue agreed to settle the case for $240,000 in January.

Persons of Middle East descent have not been the only ones affected by tight airport security and the burgeoning terrorist watchlist.

At least one Congressman, Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), says he has felt the burden firsthand. The Congressman’s name is on the terrorist watchlist, and consequently he is subjected to repeated searches and required to show multiple forms of identification.

"It seems there is not any way for me to get off [the terrorist watchlist],” wrote Rep. Lewis. “If I encounter these problems as a Member of Congress showing my congressional identification, drivers' license, and a clearance letter from [Transportation Security Administration], you can only imagine what the average American suffers."

The bill passed by a vote of 413 to 3. The House passed the same bill last year, but it died in the Senate, when the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee failed to take action on the bill.

STIMULUS PLAN

Oxford Definition :

stimulus

/stimyoolss/

• noun (pl. stimuli /stimyooli/) 1 something that evokes a specific reaction in an organ or tissue. 2 something that promotes activity, interest, or enthusiasm.

— ORIGIN Latin, ‘goad, spur, incentive’.

I couldn't escape the headlines of Obama's agenda today... yet at the same time, the forum that i frequent ALSO experienced an extraordinary "stimulus plan" today. The enthusiasm and promoted activity was out of this world, and nothing short of magical.

Pathetic!

This is the best organic produce i can get with in at least 30 minutes from the house. The farmers market doesn't open back up until June. I wait with great anticipation! :) not only for that.... but our own organic gardening. This year, will be 2 years under our belt with growing organic fruits and veggies. Last year.... i kept it all to my self and didn't share the experience with anyone. This year... i plan to take you with me all the way! Can't wait!

China's soaring mutant birth rate

Oh YES.... I'm blogging this! Out of compassion and sympathy, I find things like this are important to be aware of. Sometimes the truth is scary, and awful to look at, but I think the right thing to do is look it in the face and see it for what it is. Chief Seattle I think would say that, "we are brothers after all!"

A new Chinese family planning study has shown that birth defects have risen by 40 per cent in just six years.

The shocking rise has been blamed on pollution caused by the country's unrestrained industrial growth, say officials.

And a baby is being born with birth defects every 30 seconds because of pollution, says China's senior family planning official.

Jiang Fan - from the country's National Population and Family Planning Commission - says the heart of the problem is northern China's coal-mining region, Shanxi.

"The problem of birth defects is related to environmental pollution, especially in the eight main coal zones," confirmed local family planning official An Huanxiao.

But China's massive industrial expansion in chemical production, power plants, and manufacturing has spread defects through the whole country.

Now officials are to launch an intensive screening programme to help prevent the rise. "The number of newborns with birth defects is constantly increasing in both urban and rural areas," Jiang told China Daily newspaper.

"This rather alarming increase has forced us to kick off a high-level prevention plan," he added. Most recent figures from a 2007 commission reveal that the rate of birth defects had risen 40 per cent since 2001, from 104.9 per 10,000 births to 145.5 in 2006.

KYMATICA

I've been thinking about this documentary all day. Daniel and I watched it last night, and so did my mom. For the time being, I think I'll keep my conclusions to myself. Here's the the description that was posted on dprogram.net and the video. I know everyone over here got something out of it.... if your mind is open, you may too! :P

The sequel to Esoteric Agenda

The questions that have remained timeless and profound throughout history have been all but left for dead. There have been messages left in scripture, archeological remains, shamanic traditions, philosophy, poetry, art and music. As we move closer to an apex of technological and intellectual information, we find ourselves farther and farther away from feeling any comfort or wholeness within our hearts and souls. Yet even though the concept of spirituality should have been long gone by now, we are seeing an awakening among people and a growing desire for truth. For the first time in history we are finding that there are no sole saviors or lone prophets to guide us, but a whole race waking from a sleep that has brought this world to the brink of destruction. In a world where Apocalyptic catastrophes seem inevitable, we must look at the solutions in a whole new manner. As the latest quantum mechanics and metaphysics are just being discovered, we notice that we are not moving forward, but returning to a consciousness that the ancient shamans, mystics and sages have left for us. It is a new age. An age for responsibility and stewardship. And as we begin to look for answers in the world within, the world without will reflect. In this new age, we will discover that we are all one mind, one organism, and one spirit. We are the savior we have been waiting for.
